The three winners of the Bombay Sapphire Designer Glass Competition were named during the London Design Festival last week. The overall winning entry (above left), from product design student Bruno Everling who picked up the £5,000 first prize, was described by the judging panel, which included Esquire editor Jeremy Langmead, as having ‘the potential to be a design classic’. Luggage maker Samsonite Black Label has teamed up with Grand Prix team McLaren to produce a collection of cases and bags for the discerning traveller. The SBL McLarenSport Softside is, we’re told, a co-branding inspired by the luxury world of Formula 1. A stylish combination of sturdy nylon fabric, black nickel and leather details, the bags will be sold exclusively in Selfridges from November and in Harrods from December.
