Style,The bespokesman

Not your average shirtmaker

This just in: there’s a new shirtmaker in London. While this news would normally only quicken the pulse of a tiny group of style addicts, South African born Anoesjcka (pronounce it Anoushka) Gianotti’s has appeal beyond the bespoke crowd – yes, that’s her modelling her tape measure in the photograph.

It’s encouraging that she trained with Sean O’Flynn, who’s made many shirts for me over the years, but slightly discouraging that the shirts are made in Italy, which suggests that this is a made-to-measure service rather than true bespoke, and that she’s adopted Ozwald Boateng’s meaningless ‘bespoke couture’ tag. I’ll investigate further and get back to you.
