The Physical Impossibility of Wheel Covers in the Mind of Someone Sane

Damien 12

Just when we thought Damien Hirst had nothing left but his mother to coat with spots, butterflies or dissected animals, he goes and throws a spanner in the works by coming up with one of his most groundbreaking works yet, a series of paint-splattered wheel covers.

If it wasn’t for the fact that the 4×4 spare wheel adornments had been produced by Other Criteria – the innovative limited-editions company responsible for the proliferation of pieces by the likes of Angus Fairhurst, Peter Doig and Boudicca – they’d probably have been left safe and sound in our inbox. But there’s something audacious about Hirst’s wheel covers, (and we’re not just talking about the concept – they come in at a cool £900) which compelled us to reveal them to the world.

So here they are, in all their psychedelic glory. Stainless steel, fade-proof and easy to fit, the covers are now available from www.othercriteria.com
