As far as style inspiration goes, you’d be hard pressed to find any in a film featuring Jean Claude Van Damme. If pushed however, Hard Target – John Woo’s 1993 cat and mouse thriller – would probably be your best choice (Van Damme’s mammalian mullet aside).
Enough, however of the miniature Belgian one. It’s the chambray shirt/denim combo fetchingly sported by co-star Wilford Brimley (uncle Douvee) that recently re-caught our eye.
Brimley’s standout outfit consists of a set of dungarees combined with a bright red grandad shirt. Like an off-duty hillbilly Santa Clause.
Near destroyed by 90s hip-pop sensation Salt ‘n’ Pepa, the dungaree is currently working its way back into fashion thanks to a few hard headed designers. The best pair we’ve seen is from nu-workwear label Percival Clothing. They’ll be available next season, so watch this space for more.
