There are certain areas of the capital that all men with a little style and taste know about.
One such fashion enclave is Henrietta Street and its environs – an area of Covent Garden that is increasingly becoming London's go-to spot for any man looking to reward himself with a little luxury. Deliberately planned with us in mind, it has one of the most enviable line-ups of menswear brands anywhere in the country.
Take a stroll and see what we mean. Nigel Cabourn – purveyor of some of British menswear's finest outwear – has a store where you can find your perfect winter coat from his latest collection (an on-trend parka, perhaps).
Footwear specialists Oliver Sweeney are just down the road at number 10, where you find anything from your new pair of box fresh white sneakers (leather, of course – it is winter) to a pair of hiker boots - a shoe really having a moment this season.
Just around the corner is Burberry. While a trench coat from here is one of the most classic items any British man can own, the rest of their A/W range is equally worth your attention from beautiful cashmere scarves in their trademark check to funnel neck sweaters and sturdy selvedge jeans.
What else? Well, if you're in need a little formalwear – it is the season, after all – Hackett has a store in the area and you'll be hard-pushed to find a finer range of dinner jackets and tuxedos. Don't forget a natty bow tie to finish the look.
Clothes maketh the man, but let's not forget grooming. If you're in need a first class haircut or shave, Murdock of London, situated on the top floor of the Hackett store, will do it for you (and put a beer or whisky in your hand as they do it). Walk off with a bottle of their Vetiver cologne for a perfect winter scent.
Finally, if you're in the market for a new timepiece, pop into The Watch Gallery to discuss your options with some of the leading experts in London. They'll help you pick a stunning addition for your collection.
