OK not really (heh heh, what larks). It’s a deleted scene from Submarine. If you didn’t see it at the cinemas, Richard Ayoade’s charming comic film follows a Welsh teenager coming of age while his parents’ marriage crumbles, largely the fault of his mother’s new guru, Graham – played by Paddy Considine. US drama (you should have been watching but probably haven’t) of the week

Like us, you’re probably running out of room on your Sky+ with all the American (or British/Danish/French) dramas you’ve been told you should watch but haven’t got round to even starting yet. Well, without wanting to exacerbate the problem, Treme, out on DVD and bluray next week, is one show that probably deserves a bump up that longlist. Pedeconferencing, True Blood style

Pedeconferencing, True Blood style

Aaron Sorkin’s The West Wing is often credited with introducing us to the “pedeconference”, in which characters talk through key plot points while walking through corridors, across lawns, etc. Alan Ball’s True Blood has gone one better in the clip above, with vampires Bill (Stephen Moyer) and Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) engaging in hyper-speed combat while having a chat about their love lives. For more about — and of — the lovely Deborah Ann, see our interview with her in the June issue of Esquire. True Blood: Season 3 is out on DVD on 23 May

Staring Ethan Hawke, Don Cheadle, Wesley Snipes and Richard Gere, the film has been billed as one for fans of hit American TV series “The Wire”, and if the strapline is anything to go by “This is war. This is Brooklyn”, it’s not one for those with more sensitive sensibilities. [Read more...]

Hey now! Have we got a Larry Sanders DVD giveaway for you!
