Track of the Day | “I Can’t Stay” by Ben Browning

Cut Copy bassist Ben Browning is embarking on a fresh solo project. His punchy debut, “I Can’t Stay” sees an appropriate dose of guitar injected into the Melbourne band’s synth-happy sound. Sure, this clip (which Browning directed) sits somewhere between “mildly eccentric” and “creepy grape fetish”, but sometimes when girls and fresh fruit are involved, you can look the other way. Ben Browning’s Lover Motion EP is out 19 March. What we’re listening to | White Denim

Not content with releasing one acclaimed album this year — D, which came out in June — unhinged Texas rockers White Denim are releasing another, unseasonably titled Last Day of Summer, just as winter sets in. More confusingly still, it’s actually their third record, while D was their fourth, but such was the hoo-ha that they’re giving the people a little more of what they want, which is a charmingly ragtag collection of live favourites and messed around oddities.

Last Day of Summer by White Denim is out now (Downtown)
