While Thom Sweeney is undoubtedly a modern tailoring house be reassured that its bespoke suits (they also offer a made-to-measure service) are put together the old fashioned way. What makes it modern is that Luke Sweeney and Thom Whiddett, the eponymous founders, understand the way men live in 2010, have an eye on the fashion scene (so can keep their clients looking contemporary) and are au fait with the concept of customer service. The style bloggers: Jason Dike, Trendwatch
And no, this question isn’t rhetorical. With trousers creeping higher by the second, it’s only a matter of time before we reach the 3/4 length stage. It hasn’t happened yet, but it’s starting to pop up amongst the most influential crowd in Japan (aka the birthplace for trends like this). Even folks like Visvim’s founder Hiroki Nakamura (pictured above) are wearing trousers so high they’re cropped a couple of inches above boots. It’s a scary thought, but come next winter your friend with the 3/4 length umbro shorts could end up being the most fashion forward person you know. You’ve been warned.

Kitsuné Maison, the musical minds behind some of the biggest acts of 2009 including La Roux, obviously weren’t happy with ridding you of all your money on music downloads, and look set to empty your wallet of even more cash with the opening of the new Kitsuné temporary clothes store on Omotesando in Tokyo. We’ve followed Marc Newson’s career ever since we ate at Coast, a restaurant he designed in London in the mid-Nineties, and saw shots of a concept car, the 021C, he created for Ford back in 1999. Newson’s Ikepod brand of watches launched around the same time, and, amazingly, looks almost as far out and futuristic now as it did then. We recently met Newson to hear about his new timepiece, the Hourglass, which really is a big hourglass. (more…)
