We're all for living on the edge and changing things up occasionally, but fast-food giant McDonalds took it a step too far this week when they suggested a menu-combo that pushed most of its Facebook followers over the edge. Dunking chips into milkshakes.

Merging salty potatoes with creamy shakes. I'll just leave that there and let it sink in for a moment.

Mmm, just imagine these fries all nice and, er, covered in milkshake...

While most McDonalds customers will be well used to dipping their fries in ketchup, or maybe BBQ sauce if they're feeling adventurous, the fast-food chain has other ideas, and instead wants us to slather our fries in their ice-cream based milkshakes. It just doesn't make sense.

And I'm not the only one who feels like they want McDonalds to stop trying to make milkshake fries happen; after gently pushing the suggestion on Facebook, asking people which flavor they'd most like to dunk their fries into, users of the social media went nothing less than apeshit.

"Nearly threw up a little no just no can't ruin a good milkshake or fries," wrote one follower, along with about 10 surgical mask-adorned emojis. "Dunk fries in milkshake? Who does that???" wrote another, echoing the sentiment of the person who commented: "REALLY THOUGH???"

Continuing the rage assault, other comments included "the whole things sounds pretty disgusting to me", "I find this revolting I just cant understand why people would do such things. Milkshake is for drinking not for dipping your fried potatoes in can we please not forget that," and this particular highlight:

"You should all be ashamed of yourselves!!! Now im all for 'personal preferences' and all that but fries should only EVER be dunked/dipped/dressed/caressed/covered/smothered or molested in sauce!!! Seriously... Fries in milkshake???"

I think the people may have spoken.
