BT is planning on transforming a large number of their phone boxes into modern booths that will do all sorts of fancy tricks.

Users will benefit from free ultrafast Wi-Fi, free UK calls (you can give your mum a bell, but you'll have to give Aunt Sheila who lives in Australia a miss), phone charging and even a few cheeky maps.

They have vowed to have at least 750 appearing the UK over the next few years.

One of BT chief executives Gerry McQuade said: "We're evolving the phone box to make it relevant in the 21st century by offering people ultrafast Wi-Fi and a range of digital and information services entirely for free.

Also they look a lot harder to wee in which can only be a good thing

"London is one of the greatest cities in the world and it's entirely fitting that it becomes the first UK city to benefit from the Links. But we will be rolling out many more Links to the other great cities across the UK over the coming months as we look to transform the look and functionality of our public payphones."
