George Clooney of the jungle? According to the droves of young women in Japan heading to the zoo to see him in the flesh (and fur), he certainly is.
Say hello, or ooga-booga, to Shabani, an 18-year-old father of two originally from Australia who relocated to a Japanese zoo in 2007. Since then, he's inspired the Twitter hashtags #HandsomeGorilla and #Ikemen, which roughly means hot, young guy in Japanese.
Somehow, he seems acutely aware that he has quite the following as he strikes poses and gazes directly into the camerascapturing him. "He kinda does it for me," female Twitter user @ljrhw admits. "Threatened," male Twitter user @jaycrimes confesses.
While he may have model-like features (broad shoulders, smoldering stare), at the end of the day, he is, in fact, still a gorilla.
