First-time father Russell Brand and his fiancée Laura Gallacher may have spoken about raising their child gender-neutral, but the Daily Mail reports they have given the little girl a decidedly feminine name.

The comedian announced to the world that the little one was finally here during a stand-up gig at the Nottingham Playhouse, East Midlands, over the weekend.

One of the first to lead the congratulations was Laura's famous sister, Kirsty, who tweeted: "Thanks for messages, proud to be an auntie for first time... well done to @DaisyPoppets & @rustyrockets. Sadly can't meet her 'til am well."

Russell has left his wild ways behind him since meeting Laura. Once a lothario, he has since moved to the countryside and embraced a quieter persona.

He was previously quizzed on his new image on The Jonathan Ross Show he said: "Well some of that is because I'm in a monogamous relationship now so I'm a lot calmer."

He also said that he's been studiously preparing for the baby's arrival.

"I read a different book every week and I read one on preparation for fatherhood to mentally prepare me for it.

"I don't know that it has prepared me for it. I've painted the room, I've done the things that you're supposed to do, I've accepted the idea that that person will be more important than me."
