Two children, two terms of presidency and 24 years of marriage.

Could that be the recipe for a happy marriage? Well, it looks that way if Barack and Michelle Obama's relationship is anything to go by.

Since Barack became the 44th President of the US in 2009, we have seen him and his wife fist bump on election night rallies, slow dance at the Youth Inaugural Ball, share smooches for basketball game kiss cams and sing along to Usher's hit single, 'Yeah'.

All of which came flooding back this week as the internet did a collective 'aw' at these pics of the pair as newlyweds.

Making the rounds on Twitter, the Obamas' wedding pictures show Barack dressed in a black tuxedo while the First Lady was snapped wearing what we're reliably told is an off-the-shoulder long-sleeved down, a pouffy veil and 90s statement drop-pearl earrings.

The pair married on 3 October 1992 at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. Michelle's brother walked her down the aisle while Barack stood at the altar alongside his brother, who also served as his best man.

The first dance careful, chosen by die-hard Stevie Wonder fan Michelle, was 'You and I'.

According to an interview with the New Yorker, Michelle admitted Barack's proposal came somewhat as a surprise during a dinner at Gordon's restaurant after the pair had finished their bar exams.

"And he got me into one of these discussions again, where, you know, he sort of just led me down there and got fired up and it's like you've got blah blah blah blah, and then dessert comes out, the tray comes out, and there's a ring!"

Nice going. Barack.
