Early Tuesday morning, the 44th edition of the iconic Pirelli Calendar was released in Paris. With photographs by Peter Lindbergh, who is the first to work on the calendar three times, the calendar features 14 actresses, each iconic in her own right: Jessica Chastain, Penélope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Rooney Mara, Helen Mirren, Julianne Moore, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlotte Rampling, Léa Seydoux, Uma Thurman, Alicia Vikander, Kate Winslet, Robin Wright, and Zhang Ziyi.
The first four photos, below, give a glimpse of the 36 yet to come. In Lindbergh's vision, the images are stripped down and intimate, focusing on the woman herself and not idealistic Hollywood prestige. In black and white, the calendar's theme is raw beauty and emotion over manufactured shine, continuing to carve a new era of Pirelli Calendars initiated by Annie Leibowitz last year.
