University of Texas students got a real surprise recently when Matthew McConaughey stopped by to give people a safe lift home. The University of Texas graduate was taking part in the SURE Walk program, which gives students free rides around and off campus every day from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. SURE, which stands for Students United for Rape Elimination, offers Longhorns who are staying late on campus a female or male companion to walk them home by phone or email, as well.

"My mom raised us with Meals on Wheels. We did this when we were kids, we've been doing this off and on for 40 years," McConaughey told KXAN. "They don't know who I am, they don't know that I'm in movies or anything, I introduce myself as Matthew and they go 'hi,' and they are happy that somebody would just take the time out on Thanksgiving to come by bring the meal."
