Last year, video of Conor McGregor sparring with Hafthor Julius Bjornsson went viral for pretty obvious reasons: Who would win in a fight, the Irish MMA featherweight or the strongest man in the world who also plays The Mountain on Game of Thrones? It was like watching an unreasonably muscular child fight an unreasonably muscular giant. Now, we're even closer to seeing this fight happen, as UFC President Dana White has confirmed McGregor will actually be on Game of Thrones.

Earlier this week, rumors circulated that McGregor had been repeatedly offered a cameo on the HBO series.

"It's been agreed that McGregor will appear in one of the remaining two seasons of Game of Thrones," a source said. "He was headhunted as it were by HBO, as one of the Game of Thrones directors is a huge UFC fan. They believed that he would be a perfect fit for the show."

Then, on Fox Sports Live this week, White told the hosts that "I knew that a few months ago that they were interested in putting him in the show. And I'm glad he did it. It'll be great."

The Mountain's last fight on Game of Thrones was with Oberyn Martell. During that bout, The Mountain crushed Martell's skull before succumbing to a stab wound. However, Cersei Lannister had The Mountain turned into some sort of undead monstrosity using dark magic. Now, The Mountain is a zombie thing that doesn't give a shit when it gets stabbed. Maybe McGregor will play the only warrior capable of killing him.
