We all know that 2016 did Harambe, and now, 2017 has done Granrambe.

Josephine, a nearly 50-year-old "matriarch gorilla" at Zoo Miami in Florida, passed away on Wednesday afternoon due to numerous terminal health issues. She was "humanely euthanised" after she could hardly move that morning.

Said Zoo Miami in a statement:

"In 2009, after being practically blind due to severe cataracts, Josephine received cataract surgery and had two artificial human lenses implanted into her eyes that successfully restored her sight...More recently, the nearly 50 year old great ape had been suffering from several health issues that slowly incapacitated her and could not be treated with positive results due to her advanced age."

Josephine was a silverback gorilla who gave birth to Moja. Moja moved to Gladys Porter Zoo, where he had several baby gorillas...including Harambe. And that's how a star is born.

And yes, people have already started getting their dicks out for Josephine, but none for Granrambe yet.
