A rabbit vibrator may be safer than that velveteen rabbit, according to a recent study.

The Guardian reports that a Swedish study surveyed 44 sex toys that had been important to Sweden and found that only 2% contained "banned chemicals." However, the same organisation that conducted the study—the Swedish Chemicals Agency (SCA)—found in a separate study that 112 children's toys in the country contained 15% banned substances.

"This was a bit surprising," SCA inspector Frida Ramstrom told AFP. "This was the first time we did such a study."

Only one dildo had a banned substance out of all the toys: chlorinated paraffins, which may cause cancer, according to the SCA. Researchers believe the reason why childrens' toys contained more dangerous chemicals was due to their tendency to be imported by smaller companies.

Of course, it's important to note that these were two separate studies testing very small (and different-sized) samples in two separate years, so more research is undoubtedly necessary. Still, life is weird as hell.
