If you're over Pokemon Go but are still craving a Pokemon mobile fix, Nintendo is here for you. The company has just released a free Pokemon mobile game, called Pokemon Duel, available for iOS and Android.
Pokemon Duel is a bit different from other Pokemon games you may have played in the past. It's a tabletop-style game, played by moving pieces around a game board. Your pieces, in this case, are Pokemon, and your objective is to move one of your Pokemon to your opponent's home square while protecting your own.
Of course, because this is a Pokemon game, there's lots of battling too. If your Pokemon comes face to face with one of your opponent's Pokemon on the board, they battle. In Duel, battles are decided by two spinning roulette wheels. If your wheel lands on a better attack than your opponent's wheel, you win the battle and your opponent's Pokemon is kicked off the board.
There's a lot more to Duel than that, of course. Like other Pokemon games, there's a lot of complex strategy and team-building required in order to be the best. There are items to use, different special abilities, evolutions, and more. But the learning curve is pretty gentle, and there's tutorials and tips to help you along.
But will it match the popularity of Pokemon GO!? The answer, friends: probably not.
