An advert published on the Queen's official website earlier this week shows the monarch is looking to hire a temporary digital communications officer at Buckingham Palace.

The full-time role – which is maternity cover and pays £30,000 a year – will "help hone and shape our digital communications through analytics, monitoring and exploring new technologies", and is said to be "fast-paced and dynamic".

It will involve creating content for the Queen's newly-launched website and keeping her social platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, up to date with news from the royal's day-to-day activities.

However, the rigorous guidelines in place mean this role is more about communicating the Queen's official engagements to the public rather than providing updates on her personal life.

"Whether you're covering a state visit, award ceremony or royal engagement, you'll make sure our digital channels consistently spark interest and reach a range of audiences," the job description states.
