It's hard to believe it's been several decades since the world last heard Nirvana's Kurt Cobain play live. The music legend, who took his life at age 27, would have been 50 years old on 20 February. Now, one of his legendary guitars is going up for sale.

To celebrate Cobain's birthday, eBay for Charity is selling his Hagstrom Blue Sparkle Deluxe guitar. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Transition Projects, an organisation based in Portland, Oregon, that "delivers life-saving and life-changing assistance" to homeless veterans and families.

Obviously, if you're considering buying this piece of Nirvana memorabilia, keep in mind that Kurt Cobain's cardigan sold for £110,000 (over twice its estimated value) at auction, so you can bet there's no real predicting how much this baby will sell for.

The auction will run from 16 Feb at 11 a.m. EST to 26 Feb at 11 a.m. EST.
