After Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian, and Taylor Swift held the honor, Selena Gomez took it in March 2016—and has kept it throughout her recent hiatus. Currently, Gomez is at 111 million followers. There's a 12.5 million follower gap between her and the number two spot.

That user was Taylor Swift—but this week, Ariana Grande surpassed her. Grande has 98.5 million followers to Swift's 98.3.
