Nicole Kidman has explained why she was spotted clapping in a such strange way at the Oscars, after a video of her quickly went viral.
It turns out that she was worried about damaging her giant diamond ring.
"It was really awkward, and I was like, 'Gosh, I really want to clap," she told Kiss FM. "I don't want to not be clapping, which would be worse right? Why isn't Nicole Kidman clapping."
Nicole was wearing a ring with over 119 carats worth of diamonds, with a 13.58-carat cluster pearl-shaped diamond set in platinum.
"So therefore I'm clapping but it was really difficult because I had this huge ring on which was not my own but was absolutely gorgeous and I was terrified of damaging it."
So the next time you see someone Gove-ing it up, don't immediately jump to the conclusion that they're a shape-shifting lizard person.
