These Are The Boroughs Where Homes Sell Fastest In London

It's probably not where you think

In a new study conducted by the property website Zoopla, the boroughs in which homes sell fastest in London have been revealed – and the results are not what you might have thought.

While you would probably expect the more typically fashionable areas in the capital to be the most competitive, actually the opposite is proving to be true.

Properties in suburban boroughs – including Sutton, Bexley and Havering – are where homes are selling the fastest. This suggests that people are more willing to move to previously less popular areas further outside of the city than they once were.

Houses in Sutton take an average of 28 days to get a sale, while the "prime" inner London boroughs average at 47.

"The past year has seen a real shift in momentum from central London to the suburbs," Jonathan Hopper, the managing director of Garrington Property Finders told the Evening Standard. "Boroughs like Havering are enjoying a surge in interest. Regeneration and the prospect of better transport connections mean that areas like this can offer both good value and potential for strong growth."

While the "prime" central-London market has slowed in recent years, the property markets in the outer boroughs are not following the same pattern.
