Val Kilmer has been posting a bunch of pretty unsettling comments about actress Cate Blanchett on Twitter.

The 57-year-old actor – who starred alongside Blanchett in the 2003 western thriller The Missing – claimed he once flew all the way to the star's home in her native Australia, only to be confronted by her husband Andrew Upton.

He wrote: "Once I flew all the way to Australia just to talk to Cate Blanchett. Her husband met me first. Or, instead, I guess, to be accurate."

The Top Gun star went on to tweet that he'd had two dreams about Blanchett that didn't feature her husband, before saying he once took on a cameo film role just to be close to her, and that he was "dazzled" by the way she picked up a shovel in their scene.

Kilmer also posted a black and white image of the Carol star and added the caption: "I mean even if she couldn't act you know what I mean?"

When a fellow Twitter user suggested he was being "being super creepy and obsessive", he defended his posts and replied: "Nothing in the least creepy about loving someone. What kind of world do you come from?"

He then went on to insist that he has the "highest respect and admiration" for his "friend" Blanchett, and that he gets along just fine with her screenwriter and director partner.
