More than three months ago, the Swedish Academy held a grand ceremony to honor the recipients of the Nobel Prize. Bob Dylan, who won the Nobel Prize for literature, did not attend. Since that day, on December 10, his prestigious award has just been sitting around the Swedish Academy offices gathering dust.

This weekend, since Dylan will be in the neighborhood to perform in Stockholm, he's decided to swing by and pick the damn thing up. As Sara Danius, the permanent secretary of the Swedish Academy, said in a blog post:

The good news is that the Swedish Academy and Bob Dylan have decided to meet this weekend. The Academy will then hand over Dylan's Nobel diploma and the Nobel medal, and congratulate him on the Nobel Prize in Literature. The setting will be small and intimate, and no media will be present; only Bob Dylan and members of the Academy will attend, all according to Dylan's wishes.

In October, Dylan became the first songwriter to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. But, Dylan didn't really give a fuck, waiting weeks to even acknowledge that he won it and deciding he wouldn't attend this moment in history because "other commitments make it unfortunately impossible." He also failed to give a lecture in order to receive the $900,000 in prize money. Dylan has until June to give the lecture and is expected to send in a taped version to the Academy, but "what he decides to do is his own business," Danius said.

Yes, it is! He's Bob Dylan. He can do whatever the hell he wants!
