Charlie Hunnam has been reminiscing about his memories of Las Vegas, but he's not looking back so fondly on all of them.

Chatting to The AP at CinemaCon, the Sons of Anarchy star revealed that the first time he ever visited Vegas, when he was 18 years old, he actually got married. As you do.

Charlie married actress Katharine Towne after meeting at a Dawson's Creek audition and falling "madly in love".

"It was the first time I'd ever been in love," he said.

"We came to Vegas because, in our 18-year-old minds, we thought, 'What if we never see each other again? Let's get married! And then we'll have to see each other again, even if it's just to get divorced!'" (Solid logic.)

Despite admitting that he didn't think the wedding would actually happen because he couldn't even get a drink over there, the pair ended up 'psyching themselves' into it and tied the knot at 2am.

Sadly, the pair didn't live happily ever after in wedded bliss, as their marriage only lasted "three terrible, painful, expensive years", according to Charlie.

Don't feel too bad for him, though – he ended up with a sweet deal after the divorce. "I got the cats at the end of it, so that was good," he revealed. "There was a small victory!"

When Charlie's not been busy trying to forget his Las Vegas romance, he's been preparing for war as Arthur in Guy Ritchie's upcoming King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. Somehow we don't think he'll be regretting that venture.
