Colin Farrell had a close shave as he was preparing for his first-ever sex scene.

Talking on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, he recalled the embarrassing moment he had during filming of war drama Tigerland, when he started to worry about how he'd look on screen.

"I was very nervous 'cos I'd never done a sex scene. I went up to the director, Joel Schumacher, and I had a dressing gown on and nothing underneath," Colin explained.

"I was obviously so nervous that I lost my mind for a second because I opened my dressing gown and said, 'Is this a bit… is it a bit…' because I had, like most men, what you could refer to as retro bush."

And if you thought that was as bad as it got, you're mistaken.

After a mixed response from the director, Colin went to the hair and makeup trailer to get a beard trimmer and set to work.

"I trimmed the right side a little bit, then obviously had to match it and trimmed the left, but overshot the mark, so I had to get back in, approach the right again, overshot that," he joked.

"At this stage, I was sweating. Went back in and reapproached the landing on the left, then I looked down and I had a little landing strip. Lovely little landing strip."

As a final twist to the story, Colin then didn't end up getting a full-frontal shot in the movie at all. Whoops.

Colin's confession was for a good cause though, as he was taking part in Ellen's segment where she gets celebrities to share a secret they haven't told anybody to raise funds for a chosen charity.

He raised $10,000 for the CHIME Institute in California, a non-profit school that his son attends, which promotes inclusive education.
