If you loved playing The Sims (or at least like putting the characters in horrendously dangerous situations and watching them squirm), we've got good news for you. The popular early-2000s game is coming to smartphones. The Sims Mobile debuted in Brazil earlier this week and is set to roll out to the rest of the world in the near future on both iOS and Android.

Just like the desktop version, you'll be able to customise your Sim with his/her own look and personality traits along with building and designing homes. The games' parent company, EA, says that your Sim's life path is a big part of the plot as well.

"Shape your Sims' families over multiple generations. When your Sims accomplish their career goals and retire, you'll be rewarded with Heirlooms that unlock hobbies and careers for future generations, allowing new Sims to tell deeper stories," they describe on The Sims Mobile website. There will also be social elements to the game — so your Sim can become best friends with your real-life friends on the app.

This is EA's third attempt at bringing the popular desktop game to mobile. In 2011, Sims Freeplay launched on iOS and The Sims Social debuted on Facebook. Unfortunately, both were unsuccessful and shut down two years later. Unlike these games, The Sims Mobile appears to mirror the popular PC experience a bit more closely.

EA has yet to announce when The Sims Mobile will be coming to the United States, but users can sign up to receive updates about the games release on their website.
