The only video games I've played for at least a decade have been crappy, addictive phone games. I haven't purchased a real video game since I was in school. But even though I'm not a gamer by any means, I do still have fond childhood memories of back when games looked like a bunch of pixilated cartoon blocks. There's something so charming and simple about the aesthetic. That's what makes this fan made 8-bit Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer so delightful.
Listen to the old school Nintendo-ised soundtrack. Look at the cute mini Luke and his silly hood. How about the boxy Millennium Falcon or the stupid little BB-8 rolling through a spaceship? It's all so fun and takes the self-seriousness out of the original trailer. Speaking of, it's a really faithful recreation, down to the red stuff trailing behind those ships. It even has director Rain Johnson's approval.
Actually, I'd play the hell out of this game. Can someone make it? Compare the two below:
