Five leaders of the UK's political parties battled it out for the best soundbite in ITV's Leaders' Debate tonight (18 May) – or six leaders, if you're Paul Nuttall.

Shifting the attention away from a certain absence (or two), UKIP's Paul managed to make not one but two mighty slip-ups, as he addressed Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood as Natalie. Twice.

C'mon, Pete, you should know better than that.

Needless to say, neither Leanne nor Twitter were overly impressed with Paul's awkward gaffe – but we're just grateful for a bit of light relief, to be honest.

The debate featured the leaders from the Green Party, the Liberal Democrats, the SNP, Plaid Cymru and UKIP. (And whichever party Natalie is from.)

While Caroline Lucas, Tim Farron, Nicola Sturgeon, Leanne and Paul argued over the issues concerning voters ahead of June's snap general election, two leaders were notably absent: prime minister Theresa May and Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Don't think May and Corbyn will make it through the campaign without a grilling, though – both leaders are set to face the horror of a one-on-one interview with Paxo.

Jeremy Paxman will terrorise the candidates for Channel 4's election programme, which will also be simulcast on Sky News. We've got second-hand embarrassment already.
