Scott Dixon, aka the luckiest son of a bitch alive, walked away relatively unscathed from a terrifying crash at the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday. Dixon made contact with Jay Howard, causing his vehicle to careen into the Turn 2 retaining wall in a burst of flames.

Ricocheting off the wall, Dixon's car landed upside-down before flipping one more time and landed with only one wheel still intact. Both drivers were quicklly treated at the infield care center and released, according to ESPN. Dixon went back to the care center later, ESPN's Dr. Jerry Punch reported, and emerged wearing a walking boot on his left foot.

"I'm a little beaten up there, it was a bit of a rough ride," the pole sitter Dixon said, adding, "We had nowhere to go, and that happens."

Ouch.

Takuma Sato of Japan went on to win the race, solidifying his lead with five laps remaining. Helio Castroneves and Ed Jones took second and third, respectively.
