Sunday night's One Love Manchester concert was a huge success, reportedly raising over £2 million during the evening.

The event was put on in response to the horrific attack at the Ariana Grande concert on 22 May, where 22 people lost their lives.

Piers Morgan caused a stir by suggesting Ariana Grande should not have left for the US so quickly in the wake of the attack – but tonight he has tweeted his appreciation of the star after all she had achieved in organising the One Love Manchester benefit concert.

"I thought Ariana Grande was wrong to fly off after #ManchesterAttack. But tonight she's putting on a fabulous show," he wrote.

"I misjudged you, @ArianaGrande & I apologise," he later followed with towards the end of the concert. "You're an admirable young woman & this is a magnificent night. Respect."

In fact, Piers was tweeting along with most of the concert, even praising Justin Bieber's comments to the families affected by the tragedy and declaring the concert a great way to say "f**k you" to those behind the first bombing.

The original message was in respons one of Katy Perry's tweets, showing the Queen visiting young survivors of the bombing, where he said: "Might have been nice if @ArianaGrande had stayed to do the same."

Piers fought his corner when many Twitter users pointed out that his argument was labelled as insensitive.

When one person argued that Ariana was "probably traumatised herself", Piers countered: "Probably not as much as those killed & wounded. She should have stayed to visit her injured fans."

So after those heated words, it will be seen as a welcome move by many that Piers has published an apology to the singer
