This may come as a shock, but it turns out comedian Jerry Seinfeld and pop star Kesha don't run in the same social circles.

Seinfeld made this abundantly clear when Kesha approached him on a red carpet for a hug, and they proceeded to have one of the most painfully awkward interactions we've ever seen. Kesha excitedly introduced herself, and Seinfeld promptly turned down her (very polite) request for a hug—three times—before she ran away in horror.

The Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee star became a real-life version of the Mariah Carey "I don't know her" meme after being informed by the interviewer that Kesha is, in fact, famous.

We should force more celebrities to introduce themselves to each other on camera. I would pay a good amount of money to watch Bill Murray try and sidestep shaking hands with Justin Bieber.

Seriously, try and get through this without experiencing secondhand embarrassment.
