Boris Johnson was told to "stop talking" on the radio yesterday in a rather awkward (and funny) moment for listeners.

Ahead of this week's general election – and after a bitter fall-out with Piers Morgan earlier in the day – the Tory's Foreign Secretary was a guest on Radio 4's Today programme, discussing the rising terror threat.

Despite a little friction, the conversation was going steadily until Boris decided to take a swipe at Labour adversaries Jeremy Corbyn and Diane Abbott.

Let's just say his comments didn't go down too well with show host Mishal Husain, who became so exasperated by the remarks that she told Boris to "stop talking".

"It really is bizarre that we should be on Thursday confronted with Prime Minister Corbyn, Home Secretary Diane Abbott," Boris said.

"No, no," replied Husain. "Please stop talking."

"Please stop talking?" asked a startled Johnson. "You invited me on your show to talk."

Nevertheless, the unimpressed Today presenter wasn't backing down.

"It is the third time you've mentioned Diane Abbott," she added. "You're the Foreign Secretary, you've got a big job in government."
