Former FBI director James Comey is testifying in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee regarding possible Russian interference in the 2016 American election. And when asked by Committee Chairman Senator Richard Burr whether he believed Russia had hacked the election, he said he had "no doubt" that they had.

Below is a transcript of the questioning:

Burr: Do you have any doubt that Russia attempted to interfere in the 2016 elections?

Comey: None.

Burr: Do have you any doubt that the Russian government was behind the intrusions in the DNC and the D-triple systems and the subsequent leaks of that information?

Comey: No, no doubt.

Burr: Do you have any doubt the Russian government was behind the cyber intrusion?

Comey: No.

Burr: Do you have any doubt that they filed these activities?

Comey: I don't.

This brings up a lot of questions about the legitimacy of Donald Trump's presidency (as if the popular vote didn't already do that). Senator Mark Warner, the Vice Chairman, said the investigation is "not about re-litigating the election...we are here because a foreign adversary attacked us right here at home." Comey also said he was "confident" that no votes cast in the 2016 election were altered.

Comey was also asked about the probe into Hillary Clinton's emails during the election, which many say led to her loss. He said that he has no regrets about releasing his findings in that investigation to the public. When asked if, in hindsight, he would have acted differently, he said, "honestly, no it caused a whole lot of personal pain for me, but as I looked back, given what I knew at the time and what I've learned since, I think it was the best way to try to protect the justice institution, including the FBI," he said.

The hearing continues, and Donald Trump has been eerily quiet on Twitter. We assume his aides changed his Twitter password in the middle of the night.
