Amazon, in its never-ending quest to conquer the galaxy make our lives more convenient, has registered a patent on a "Multi-Level Fulfillment Center for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles;" a safe space for drones to unwind and meet other drones in a warehouse setting while fulfilling our wildest same-day delivery desires. The towering, cylindrical structure can be restocked by trucks or boats, should they be close enough to water, and will be protected from rogue drone entry via a wireless authentication system. So, members only.

As the retail giant continues to invest in a future where items can be delivered at the click of a button, this beehive-like structure will have drones air-dropping a copy of Paul Blart: Mall Cop on your doorstep faster than you can remember your ex's Netflix password.

You may remember that Amazon already won the patent for flying warehouses back in December, because every good robot army needs a mothership. That same month, the company completed its first delivery by drone in the countryside: an Amazon Fire TV and a bag of popcorn. With the recent $13.7 billion acquisition of Whole Foods, a sky dark and swarming with flying grocery droids seems to be the future, whether we want it or not.

I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords; if the years I've wasted watching science fiction films have taught me anything, there is absolutely no way this can go wrong.
