If the front-facing camera wasn't already horrifying enough, you might soon be able to unlock your iPhone with your FACE.
According to Bloomberg, Apple is testing out an improved security system for future iPhones that would allow people to unlock their device, authenticate payments and launch secure apps, purely by a 3D scan of their face.
Bloomberg's report claims that the new feature can scan a user's face and unlock the iPhone "within a few hundred milliseconds," adding that it can work even if the device is lying flat on a table.
Another insider also claimed that the company is testing out eye-scanning technology.
If it does make it onto a future iPhone, the face-scanning tech will apparently replace the current Touch ID fingerprint scanner, which was introduced on the iPhone 5s back in 2013.
Apple's declined to comment on the reports.
But the company isn't the first (or seemingly the last) to branch into facial recognition.
The Samsung Galaxy S8's biometric security has already moved smartphone security beyond the tips of your fingers with new facial recognition technology.
The S8's front-facing camera is able to address the unique features of your face and unlock the device when it sees that you, and only you, are holding the device.
