Ed Sheeran has deleted his Twitter account following criticism of his Game of Thrones cameo.

Earlier this month, Ed responded to reports that he had quit the social media platform as it is "nothing but people saying mean things" by clarifying he hadn't actually quit, just stopped reading anything on Twitter.

"Loads of Hoo-har about me quitting stuff. I haven't quit anything, I'm just not reading anything, except Harry Potter," he wrote on his Instagram account.

But now, he appears to have deleted his account, and it comes shortly after his brief cameo in the first episode of Game of Thrones season seven.

Which did NOT go down well with viewers at home.

Ed made a musical cameo – and had some dialogue – as a Lannister soldier who Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) came across, with his group of troops offering her some food and drink, not knowing she had just offed a whole load of Frey men.

She even joked that she was heading to King's Landing to kill the Queen (Cersei Lannister), leading to an awkward silence before the soldiers burst into laughter.

Ed's soldier was sat next to Arya throughout the scene, so you couldn't exactly miss him, especially as he also offered her some rabbit and called King's Landing the "worst place in the world".
