Justin Bieber may be one of the biggest global superstars, but he has been banned from performing in China.

The 23-year-old has lined up a series of dates in Asia–and will visit Japan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore and Indonesia across September and October–but the country with the largest population in the world has turned its back on him due to his controversial behaviour.

And it seems many people in China aren't particularly happy, as some fans have complained to the Beijing municipal bureau of culture. The bureau has since outlined its reasons behind the decision, also pointing to a "previous performance in China" which apparently irked some people, but suggested that Bieber could be allowed back in the future if he becomes less "controversial".

"Justin Bieber is a gifted singer, but he is also a controversial young foreign singer," said a statement (translated via The Guardian).

"As far as we are concerned, he has engaged in a series of bad behaviors, both in his social life and during a previous performance in China, which caused discontent among the public.

"In order to maintain order in the Chinese market and purify the Chinese performance environment, it is not suitable to bring in badly behaved entertainers.

"We hope Justin Bieber is able to improve his conduct as he grows up and will once again find public favor."

China clearly hasn't seen Bieber visiting sick fans at a children's hospital. He also recently performed at Ariana Grande's One Love Manchester benefit concert.
