Trying to fill time and look busy until the end of the day when you can bust out of that office? Don't worry, like you Robert Pattinson too hates his day job, or more specifically his time pretending to be a vampire.

Robert Pattinson has revealed how he was almost fired from his part as Edward Cullen in Twilight, this time adding that it was because he didn't smile enough. The actor said that producers were at odds with his insistence that he play the character as slightly miserable.

"If you're going into a relationship with someone, the way to make it really intense is if you can barely talk to each other, you can barely touch each other, it's incredibly serious all the time," he told Howard Stern. "That's what teenage relationships are. But everyone kind of wanted it to be, like, 'No, they should just be, like, happy and having fun. That's what people want.'"

When Pattinson refused to back down over the way he wanted to play the character, the producers stepped in.

"I remember the producers giving me a copy of the book with every single instance where my character smiled highlighted," he laughed. "But then I got the same book and a different colour highlighter and highlighted all the time where he frowns and everything."

It was only when the producers threatened to fire him that he decided to compromise and play the character in a slightly less miserable fashion.

If you needed further evidence he wasn't enthralled by his time on the coming-of-age vampire romp, look no further:
