It looks as though Eminem is on course to drop a new album this year.

HITS Daily Double reports the rap star has been recording his ninth studio album, and we may just see it hit stores as early as this autumn.

The artist's last album was 2013's The Marshall Mathers LP 2, which included hits such as 'Berzerk' and Rihanna collaboration 'The Monster'.

Eminem has previously hinted he has been working on new material – last year, he told fans he was making another album after dropping anti-Trump track 'Campaign Speech' during the run-up to the US election.

This was then seemingly confirmed by Allen Hughes, who directed Dr Dre documentary The Defiant Ones.

"Dre records every day," he said. "Right now he's producing, in the 11th hour, a track for Eminem's latest album."

Another person who claims to have heard the latest Eminem material is rapper 2Chainz, who said he had listened to one of his new songs (before comparing it to his own music).

"He let me hear this song and it was funny," he said. "I heard some things in there where his vernacular was 2 Chainz-y. It was crazy."

Eminem is headlining Reading & Leeds Festivals at the end of August, so maybe we'll hear some new material then.
