Collectible cards must not count as toys though, because Topps has released a checklist that basically serves as a summary of the film's entire plot.

(Warning: spoilers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi to follow)

The list for The Last Jedi cards reads as follows:

  • 91 'Rey's Solitude'
  • 92 'General Leia Organa'
  • 93 'Rey and her Lightsaber'
  • 94 'On Crait'
  • 95 'Rushing to Attack'
  • 96 'Finn's Recovery'
  • 97 'Poe Responds'
  • 98 'The Fury of Kylo Ren'
  • 99 'Shards of the Past'
  • 100 'Luke's Grim Perspective'
  • 101 'Ski Speeder Assault'
  • 102 'Walkers Incoming'
  • 103 'The Resistance'
  • 104 'The Resistance X-wing'
  • 105 'The Resistance A-wing'
  • 106 'The Battle Commences'
  • 107 'Frigates Under Fire'
  • 108 'The Resistance Vs The First Order'
  • 109 'The Millennium Falcon Flees'
  • 110 'Heroes United'

What can we learn from this? It looks like the film will focus around two major battles. The first one presumably ends in the First Order's defeat, hence 'The Fury of Kylo Ren' – perhaps this is the rumoured battle between Rey/Luke and Kylo/The Knights of Ren.

Things might not turn out so well for the Resistance in the second fight, as the penultimate card is 'The Millennium Falcon Flees'... which, funnily enough, is exactly what happened at the end of the original trilogy's middle chapter, The Empire Strikes Back.

'Heroes United' implies that the surviving Resistance members will be falling back and preparing for a desperate, all-or-nothing fight in Star Wars Episode 9.

If you think we're reading too much into this, check out the Force Awakens cards on the same list, which very much follow the plot of the previous episode.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released on 14 December in the UK and 15 December in the US.
