Spike Lee and Get Out director Jordan Peele are combining their respective talents for a true story about the Ku Klux Klan.

Black Klansman tells the story of an African American police detective who went undercover and infiltrated the KKK by becoming a high-ranking member.

Lee will be directing while Peele's production company will be taking on producing duties on the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Ballers star John David Washington is said to be on board to star as Ron Stallworth, the Colerado detective who answered an advert in the local newspaper seeking new Klan members in 1976.

Stallworth rose up through the ranks to become head of the local chapter, and through this was able to gather enough intelligence to sabotage a number of cross-burnings.

The screenplay, adapted from Stallworths 2014 book of the same name, has been penned by Charlie Wachtel, David Rabinowitz, Spike Lee and Kevin Willmont.
