Following the release of its first ever cellular built-in watch and the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus – Apple used its big event yesterday to reveal another new product that is setting out to impress us.

And that product is the iPhone X.

The iPhone X will be the "biggest leap forward since the original iPhone" and "will set the path for technology for the next decade".

The pioneering product has dual rear 12-megapixel cameras, Face ID (which works in tandem with Apple Pay), an edge-to-edge display (measuring 5.8 inches diagonally) and no home button. Instead, users will simply swipe up from the bottom to bring up and return to the homepage.

The handset price will start at $999 and be available from 3 November in the US, with pre-orders opening on 27 October. In the UK, the X will set you back £999.

But what else do we know about the iPhone X (which is iPhone 10, if you want to say it out loud)?

Well, it will be water and dust resistant, for starters.

The phone will also come in two colours: space grey and silver, and feature True Tone display technology like its iPhone 8 predecessor.

However, unlike the iPhone 8, the iPhone X will have a 'super retina display' with over a 2.7 million pixel resolution, making it the highest resolution in pixel density ever in a iPhone.

After a lot of speculation, the phone will incorporate OLED technology for the first time in iPhone history, which Phil Schiller explained as "the first OLED display great enough to be in an iPhone".

He also described it as a "big step forward in the iPhone user experience" as well as an "opportunity to rethink how iPhone can work".
