Were you even a nineties kid even you didn't idle away the entire summer holidays, curtains (and gun) drawn, hunting down victims on Doom?

Although we're not usually in favour of start Christmas early, we'll make an exception for this retro game making a comeback on the Nintendo Switch this December.

Fresh from its well-received release last year, Doom is expected to drop on Nintendo just in time for the festive period, so you may as well get writing that Christmas list now.

The latest Doom, which was released for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One last year, will make the transition to Nintendo Switch with classic and all-new game modes.

The first-person shooter game will continue to be developed by id Software, so we can expect the Switch version to be just as epic as its predecessors – and just as satanic, too.

Doom will be joining the likes of cult favourites from the Resident Evil series, which recently announced its long-awaited expansion into the Switch-verse.

Resident Evil Revelations, which was originally released for the 3DS back in 2012, will be heading to the new console some time this year, along with its sequel Revelations 2.

Other games due to hit the Nintendo Switch before the year is out include Super Mario Odyssey, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, and Rocket League.

Game hard, everyone.
