Charlie Brooker has revealed which authors will pen the novel to complement the Black Mirror anthology.

In June this year, Brooker announced he was working on the release of three volumes of a Black Mirror book to accompany the Emmy-winning TV series, in what he referred to as "high-tech 'paper' format".

While audiences knew the series creator would act as editor on each of the three volumes – which will feature all-new Black Mirror stories – they didn't know by who would write the stories, as the author's identities were being kept very much under wraps.

Until now, that is.

Courtesy of Penguin Random House, we can now reveal that Cory Doctorow, Claire North and Sylvain Neuvel are the three writers in question.

Doctorow is a New York Times bestselling novelist, while Claire North is a pseudonym for Carnegie-nominated writer Catherine Webb, who also writes under the name Kate Griffin.

Sylvain Neuvel is the author of the Themis Files trilogy, with his first novel Sleeping Giants already optioned for a film.

And all the authors seem to be equally excited by the appointment.

"Did someone say Black Mirror?" Claire tweeted earlier today (September 21).

"I can finally share," added Neuvel. "So proud to be a part of this."

The first original fiction volume will be published in February 2018, with the second volume scheduled for autumn 2018 and the third in 2019.
