Ahead of its second season, the team behind Netflix hit Stranger Things has released a string of promotional posters that pay homage to several cult '80s movies.

The streaming hit returns for a second run on 27 October, and while we know season two will feature a new love interest for Will's mum Joyce (Winona Ryder), the return of Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) after she disappeared at the end of last season, and the addition of the show's creepiest character yet, most of it remains mysterious.

But at least we have these pretty posters to keep us distracted, including the following Goonies homage, which was unveiled this week.

Mimicking the promotional movie posters of '80s horror classics such as Jaws, A Nightmare on Elm Street and The Evil Dead, creators Matt and Ross Duffer don't only have us excited for season two, but also certain that things are about to get a whole lot more terrifying.

Here are all the previous posters:

While we're focused on season 2 right now, the Duffer Brothers recently revealed what they will think will happen after that.

"We're thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out," Ross said, with Matt adding: "We just have to keep adjusting the story... though I don't know if we can justify something bad happening to them once a year."
