Bob's Burgers fans are finally getting the movie they've waited for for more than six years.

The Fox animated series will be making the jump from the small screen to the big screen for the very first time on July 17, 2020, with series creator Loren Bouchard fully on board (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Bouchard announced the movie on Wednesday (October 4): "We know the movie has to scratch every itch the fans of the show have ever had, but it also has to work for all the good people who've never seen the show.

"We also know it has to fill every inch of the screen with the colours and the sounds and the ever-so-slightly greasy texture of the world of Bob's — but most of all it has to take our characters on an epic adventure. In other words, it has to be the best movie ever made. But no pressure, right?!"

In 20th Century Fox's own announcement, the studio's Stacey Snider credited her Fox TV counterparts Gary Newman and Dana Walden with making the movie a reality.

"A Bob's Burger film fits perfectly with our initiative to redouble our family and animation efforts," Snider said. "We're grateful to Dana and Gary for trusting us with this beloved property and we're so excited to be working with Loren and his team."

Bob's Burgers is fresh off a win over Archer, Elena and the Secret of Avalor, The Simpsons and South Park for Outstanding Animated Programme at the 69th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards last month.

Fellow Fox comedy The Simpsons also memorably spawned a big-screen adventure, with talk of a sequel intensifying in recent months.

Bob's Burgers continues on TV on Sundays at 7.30pm ET on Fox in the US. Comedy Central airs the animated comedy in the UK.
