Gerard Butler has spoken about his terrifying motorbike crash just last week, and has reassured fans that he's doing "alright".

The star was involved in an accident when he collided with a car in Los Angeles, and spoke at length about what happened during an interview on ITV's Lorraine in London today (October 19).

Butler explained: "I'm alright. It just happened at the worst time, because it's in the middle of a worldwide press tour and I've been doing these re-shoots on two different movies.

"And I did a 30-foot, through the air somersault, according to the people who were watching me… and then I pull my helmet off, and they go, 'Oh, that's Gerard Butler'."

He added: "I have five fractures in my right foot and a fracture in my left foot, beat up my knees a bit… I'm taking ice baths at night at the hotel. It's not pretty, but I'll get there. I'm okay.

"I literally got out of bed after three days, where I couldn't even walk to the toilet, and I had to go to New York to do all these talk shows, and there was no getting out of it. Like I say, it wasn't very fun to watch me. There were a few tears shed."

The star recalled what happened during the incident to Entertainment Tonight this week, revealing: "I was going along the road doing my thing and this lady decided to go from parked on the other side of the road to an illegal U-turn and went right in front of me.

"I smacked the car, went flying through the air and did a somersault and landed, and it hurt a bit.

"So I'm sitting down and my feet are killing me and my shoes are ripped and [one guy asks], 'So, how's it all goin'?'

"And I [tried to say], 'Well, I'm supposed to be doing an action movie in about three weeks.'"

Butler will next be seen in global climate thriller Geostorm, while he will soon start filming Angel Has Fallen, where he will reprise his role of Mike Banning from London Has Fallen.
